Students in Northern New Jersey (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Union counties): IEEE is starting a new chapter of the Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) in Northern New Jersey. (Manfred Minimair, Seton Hall University, has been appointed co-chair of the chapter.)

IEEE CIS is of interest to data science students because it sponsors a major international conference for data science and focuses on machine learning, AI, fuzzy systems, etc.

Students would sign up for IEEE https://www.ieee.org// and choose a society membership such as Computational Intelligence Society. IEEE offers extensive discounts to students for signing up. IEEE offers a 50% Discount code (FUTURE50), which is valid for new student members as well as renewal of student membership. The remaining 50% student membership fee for new student members will be reimbursed by the IEEE Northern Jersey Section. Students can send the paid receipt to the treasurer Prof. Avimnayou Vatsa, Fairleigh Dickinson University, at avatsa@fdu.edu of the IEEE Northern Jersey Section. Prof. Vatsa will send the check or an Amazon gift card to the students. Beyond the general IEEE fee of $16, there is an additional fee for CIS which is $5 when signing up.
