NJBDA Annual Meeting Brings Together New Jersey’s Data, AI, Industry, and Academic Communities

The New Jersey Big Data Alliance brought together a record 45 attendees for its Annual In-Person Meeting, marking the largest turnout for an annual meeting in the Alliance’s history.

Representatives from higher education, industry, government, and organizations gathered for a full day of conversation, collaboration, and planning for the year ahead. From artificial intelligence and quantum technology to student internships, research partnerships, workforce development, and the 2027 NJBDA Symposium, the meeting showcased the breadth of activity taking place across the Alliance, and the growing opportunities for members to work together.

NJBDA President Stephen K. Burley of Rutgers University opened the meeting by welcoming attendees and reflecting on the continued growth of the Alliance, the expansion of partnerships across New Jersey, and NJBDA’s ongoing work at the intersection of data science, artificial intelligence, research, education, and economic development.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to recognize Selenny Fabres of NJIT for her outstanding service as NJBDA Administrative Director over the past two and a half years. NJBDA extends its sincere appreciation to Selenny for her contributions to the organization and welcomes Kwame Kankam, who will now provide NJBDA business support at NJIT.

The Annual Meeting was not simply a look back at what NJBDA accomplished over the past year. It was a working session for what comes next.

With new members joining the Alliance, new research and workforce initiatives taking shape, planning underway for the 2027 Symposium, and an expanding community of partners across New Jersey, there is plenty to look forward to in the year ahead.
